A Whole New Camp Experience

PENINSULA LOCATIONS

We’re excited for the opportunity to safely lead Bay Area children back towards a sense of normalcy, socialization, and movement. We’ve reimagined our Giants Camps curriculum to incorporate the aspects we’re known and loved for such as amazing professional educators, best-in-class safety, and fun competitions and games.

Three-Week Sessions

As you may have heard, San Mateo County is requiring all camps to operate in minimum three-week long sessions. The goal is to minimize children mixing between different locations, groups, and activities. While different from our traditional week-long format, we’re excited at the opportunity for engagement, deeper connections, and an exciting new curriculum that helps our campers return to play after months at home.

July 13 - July 31 (M-F) @ EL CAMINO PARK - PALO ALTO

One-Week Sessions

JULY 27-31 - SAN MATEO - LOS PRADOS PARK - NEAR CAPACITY

AUGUST 3-7 - PURISSIMA PARK - LOS ALTOS HILLS

*Our one-week sessions will still follow all updated safety protocol, static group sizing, etc as our three-week sessions.

What will camp look like?

Think of what you know (or have heard) about a week of Giants Camp: a staff of professional educators greeting your camper with a smile (behind a mask) and welcoming them to a day full of connections, competitions, games, character development, and (distanced) secret handshakes.

For our younger campers, we recognize that three straight weeks of “baseball only” might be a bit much, so we’re sprinkling in some other fun activities such as kickball, relay races, scavenger hunts, and more from a multi-sport type format.

For our older divisions, these three weeks will help bring back some of the instruction, competition, and baseball connection they’ve missed with the cancellation of Little League seasons and summer ball.

Our modifications will keep camp dynamic and engaging with a fresh new look each week.

Cost

Three-Week Sessions: $1,350 per session ($450 per week).

One-week sessions cost $620.

Camp Times

Parents may drop off as early as 8:15am each morning and pick-up as late as 3:45pm each afternoon (Monday-Friday). Due to the requirements of the health order, we will not be able to provide after care for any session this summer. We hope that, by expanding our “camp day” by 90 minutes, we make the transition away from after care as easy as possible on families who typically use that service.

What will be included and what will be different from previous Giants Camps?

  • No Ballpark Visit  We will not take campers to the ballpark during any of our 2020 camp sessions.

  • Camp Size  We’ve limited our overall camp size to no greater than 60 total children, so as to create more space on our fields and accommodate smaller group sizes.

  • Division Size (age group size) will shrink from a typical group of 30-40 campers to no more than 12 campers, and remain static (no staff or camper switching groups) for the entire session.

  • Uniform campers will be given two Giants Camp jerseys on their fist day of camp. We will not provide the remainder of the Giants uniform in 2020. Campers are welcome to wear their own uniform pieces to camp or simply wear athletic shorts and other gear. Given the importance of cleanliness and sanitation this summer, we want to avoid families to having the burden of cleaning a full baseball uniform each evening for three weeks.

  • Giveaways we will still have many of our traditional giveaways and recognition components to camp such as stickers, pins, and eyeblack. We’re also adding some fun new giveaways to the camp format.

  • Drills, Games + Competitions will be adapted to create the safest possible experience

    • Example:  We will have two sets of bases on each field.  One set will exist for the baserunners and the second set will exist for the fielders, to create maximum spacing.

    • We will not use catchers in any of our games. Coaches will pitch wearing a batting glove on their throwing hand and a net will catch all the balls behind the batter.

  • We will add some games from a ‘multi-sport’ camp format to help supplement missing pieces of our typical baseball curriculum.  This will help us ensure a high level of energy and fun for our campers, while participating in activities that limit contact and exposure to shared equipment.

Please note that, as always, Giants Baseball Camp tuition is non refundable. In the event of cancellation (by camp family or local government) a full-value tuition credit, valid and transferable through summer 2023, will be issued.
